Carmarthenshire County Museum

Abergwili, Carmarthenshire, Wales, UK

  • Summer Intern, July 14 – Sept 5 2014
  • Rebuilt large gilt frame including gap-fill, re‑adhesion, and in-painting of broken moldings.
  • Re-adhered and gap-filled broken ceramic teacup from Llanelly Pottery
  • Assisted with installation of temporary exhibit at the National Eisteddfod (Welsh cultural and music festival) 
  • Assessed moth infested natural history specimen for deaccessioning
  • Took before, during and after treatment photographs. Processed photographs for treatment reports. Wrote treatment and condition reports.
  • Participated in pest control, environmental monitoring and remediation, help select and prepare objects for outgoing loans, and processed returning loans.

Chicago, Illinois

  • Pre-Program Intern, Anthropology Conservation Lab, August 2007 – June 2010
  • Tibetan Thangkas Project. Humidification and reassembly of paper liner from Thangka.
  • Chinese Rubbings Conservation Project. Humidification and repair of paper rubbings using both traditional methods (paper and wheat paste) and heat set mending strips. 
  • Kish Ceramics Conservation Project. Repair of broken stone and ceramic vessels – including disassembly  and removal of old adhesive – and gap-fill where necessary. Assisted with salinity testing and desalination of ceramics. 
  • Assisted with preparation and reception of artifacts for outgoing and returning loans.
  • Took before, during and after treatment photographs. Processed photographs for treatment reports. Wrote treatment and condition reports.
  • Informal liaison to museum professionals participating in the Iraqi Cultural Heritage Project (sponsored by U.S. Department of State).
